How to Spa @ SomaFit
Some great tips on how to get the most out of your spa experience!
  1. The spa at SomaFit is open for appointments 7 days a week. The spa will always take walk-ins (based on availability) but, try to book in advance whenever possible. Saturdays may require more advanced notice. Recommendation: For the most relaxing spa experience, book Sunday or mid-day appointments.
  2. All of our male and female therapists are very experienced and very professional. However, if you have a preference, feel free to request male or female.

What should I expect on my first visit?
Arrive at least 15 minutes early. This will give you plenty of time to change and complete a short, health questionnaire. Many clients like to come early to enjoy a steam or sauna session before their treatment. You will be given a locker key and assigned a locker.

What if I have health concerns or special needs?
When scheduling your appointment, always let the receptionist know of any specific health concerns you might have. If you are concerned that something might affect your ability to receive a safe treatment, please mention this so that a therapist may be consulted before scheduling the treatment. If a therapist has concerns about your health, they may request that you see a doctor before a treatment can be performed. A treatment will not be performed unless the therapist has full confidence that, to their knowledge, you are in suitable condition to receive a treatment safely.

“Spa Etiquette”
Guests come to the spa for relaxation and for healing, to enjoy a tranquil environment as they allow themselves to be pampered. To get the complete experience, and to be courteous of others, we ask that you turn off your cell phones and even soften your voices. This will allow those in treatments the experience of drifting away into complete relaxation. And, for yourself, it will help you to leave your stresses outside and remember that your time here is just for you.

Where should I park?
2 hour parking is available on Wisconsin Ave (free on weekends). Most of the cross streets have available, 4 hour parking.

What should I wear?
When you arrive for your treatments, you will be provided with a robe and sandals. Most people choose to remove all clothing and wear only their robe. You may wear underwear if you prefer but, less clothing is better for your treatment. The therapist will give you privacy in the treatment room so that you can disrobe and lie under the sheets.

Steam or Sauna? Before or after my treatment?
Steam or Sauna is a matter of personal preference. Both have excellent benefits for increased circulation, detoxification & even stimulating the immune system. If you have a dryer skin type, you may choose steam so as not to dry out the skin. As far as before or after your treatment, that’s personal preference too. However, steam can be a great way to prepare for a facial or a body treatment. It prepares the skin for exfoliation and opens the pores so you’ll get better results from your treatment.

Is it ok to talk during my treatment?
Yes. Or, it’s ok to be silent. Some clients like to chat, while others like to relax and clear their mind. Either is ok. But, always tell your therapist what more they can do to make your treatment more enjoyable! If you are too hot, too cold, pressure is too light or too deep, these are things your therapist wants to know!

How do I know which skin care products I should be using?
If you don’t already know, it is very important to know what the products are that you’re using on your skin and how to use them. The best way is to have one of our qualified estheticians do a thorough evaluation of your skin and let them design the perfect skin care regimen, tailored specifically for your skin.

What should I know about using the spa if I’m pregnant?
Most of our clients seem to agree… prenatal massage is a must during pregnancy!  If you are pregnant, be sure to mention when scheduling so they can schedule you with a therapist who specializes in prenatal massage. They will also prepare the bed and pillows in a special way to make it most comfortable for you. Even though massage is strongly recommended later in pregnancy, it cannot be performed during the first trimester.
Facials and nail services are also highly recommended!
Treatments that should be avoided: Oxygen Facial and Cranio Sacral. Steam room and sauna sessions should also be avoided.

Male or Female therapist?
SomaFit does have both, male and female, therapists that provide the spa treatments. You may feel free to request, male or female, if you have a preference. However, please be assured that all of our therapists are experienced, certified and professional. They are all certified therapists and treat each session as confidential and each client with respect.

How do I tip my therapist?
It is customary to tip your spa professional. How much is up to you, however, most clients leave between 15-25% of the service price. For your convenience, you may leave tips at the front desk in cash or on your credit/debit card.
